In J2ME, if the software works well on a device is not necessarily also work well on other devices. J2ME Java brings to the world of information, communication and computing devices other than desktop computers which are usually smaller than desktop computers. J2ME is commonly used in cell phones, pagers, personal digital assistants (PDAs).

Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC)
CLDC or Connected Limited Device Configuration is the basis of the J2ME device, the basic specification in the form of libraries and APIs that are implemented on the J2ME platform, such as those used in cell phones, pagers and PDAs. Such devices is restricted by limited memory, processing resources and capabilities. Specifications on the J2ME CLDC is the minimum specification of the package, class and some functions of the Java Virtual Machine is reduced in order to be implemented with limited resources on these tools, the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that is used is called Kilobytes Virtual Machine (KVM)

Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP)
Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) is a specification for a J2ME profile. MIDP has a layer on top of CLDC, additional APIs for application life cycle, interface, network and storage-resistant. At this time there is MIDP 1.0 and MIDP 2.0. Additional features compared to MIDP 2.0 MIDP 1.0 is the API for multimedia. In MIDP 2.0 there is support for playing tones, tone sequences and WAV files, although without any Mobile Media API (MMAPI)
